Course Modules

  • Module 1: Palliative Care
Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. This type of care is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of the illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.

  • Module 2: Rapid Discharge Plan for Terminally Ill Patient
The aim of the Rapid Discharge Plan is to facilitate a safe, smooth and seamless transition of care from hospital to community for dying patients who wish to die at home rather than in a hospital or hospice. Its purpose is to promote collaborative working across primary and secondary care and through effective communication, involve the correct professionals to coordinate the continuing care and support necessary for the patient and their family/carers.

  • Module 3: Psychological Issues, Outcome and Quality Of Life
Facing a cancer or its sequelae may lead to significant psychological distress and psychiatric symptomatology, such as sleep difficulty, excessive worries regarding survival and depressive mood. These symptoms are often associated with lower quality of life and well-being. A wide range of psychological interventions may be applied to ameliorate the psychological distress and the adjustment to being a cancer patient, subsequently enhancing quality of life.

Module 4: Impact Of Cancer On Sexuality
Sexual problems often develop because of physical and psychological side effects of cancer and cancer treatments. Some surgeries and treatments might have very little effect on a person’s sexuality, sexual desire, and sexual function. Others can affect how a certain body part works, change hormone levels, or damage nerve function that can cause changes in a person’s sexual function.

Module 5: Nutrition Care for Cancer Patient
Nutrition therapy is used to help cancer patients keep a healthy body weight, maintain strength, keep body tissue healthy, and decrease side effects both during and after treatment.
