Trainer Chinyere is conversant in the areas of maritime, civil, corporate and commercial litigations and thereafter, stretching and diversifying her practice into Conveyancing/Property, Banking, Finance, Commercial & Corporate and Maritime Law. After almost 12 years gathering an adequate legal knowledge and experience in legal practice in a few legal firms, she was ready and confident to join corporate practice for company to share her legal knowledge and experience which gained from practicing in legal firms.

In Aug 2015: she was appointed as Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Law, University Putra Malaysia for Research in the areas of International Commercial Law, International Trade, Marine Insurance, Shipping Law and Oil and Gas law while meantime teaching Maritime Law to professionals on the Faculty’s Legal Education Extension Programme.

From July 2012: Research and Consulting work in International Commercial Law, developing and providing training programs, facilitating seminars and workshops for staff of client companies in various aspects of international commercial law. Providing legal advice and opinion to clients on claims involving liability in contract, tort, insurance, legal drafting skills, environmental law and regulatory issues.

She was also a Legal Advisor for Fednav Limited (International Shipping Company) in Montreal, Canada in which she:

  • Handled contractual and non-contractual disputes involving the company’s interests, drafting claims and defence submissions for arbitration and negotiating settlement with opponents.
  • Drafted and reviewed standard term contracts used by the company in trading.
  • Handled insurance claims arising under the company’s fleet policies.
  • Dealt with claims involving company’s projects and infrastructure, claims for and against ports authorities, third party installations and terminals.
  • Providing day-to-day legal advice and regular training to in-house staff on commercial and operational matters.
