Kunasegaran has more than 39 years of industrial experience during his tenure with Penang Port, serving in various fields at management level in the company. His last posting was in the Information Technology center in with the Penang Port Container section. Over the years he had accumulated great experience from the shipping industry, freight forwarding and other maritime agencies.
His expertise include latest cargo handling methods – containerization, inter modalism, multi modalism, import and export and customs acts, rules & regulations, logistics and supply chain management, warehouse management, customer service management, freight transportation management, human resource management, planning and scheduling operations, project management, marketing, operation management and project management.
Kunasegaran holds a Master’s in Business Administration from University Utara Malaysia and a PhD in Lincoln University majoring in logistics. He has published a book on “Freight Transport Management” for Wawasan Open University (WOU)’s degree program. He has served as a Council Member for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia National Council (CILTM) from 2002 to 2007. He guided and supervised the CILTM students sitting for the CILT Professional Qualifying Examinations, and an appointed invigilator for the CILT examinations held in Penang.
He is a facilitator for several modules in logistics, transport, and supply chain management and is a regular speaker in the CPD programs for the Institute. During his tenure as a Council Member, Kunasegaran organized seminars and workshops for manufacturing companies in Klang Valley on transportation, logistics and supply chain management.
Kunasegaran is a Senior Lecturer with various academic institutions such as WOU, USM, UUM, UTHM, X-elent where he lectures on freight transport management, logistics and warehouse management, and supply chain management for MBA and MSC postgraduates.
