INTRODUCTION

Ms Wen Yuan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics with Nutrition from International Medical University (IMU), which is Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university for over 30 years. She had undergone 1 year of extensive training in the healthcare field as a clinical dietitian, community dietitian and food service dietitian. She is accomplished in common community health issues, for instance, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol and cancer.

She executed nutrition care processes and medical nutrition therapy for inpatients and outpa- tients with various chronic illnesses. In addition to that, she performed nutritional assessment and developed individualised diet plans to meet patients’ individual needs during her clinical training. Moreover, she conducted a focus group discussion on gestational diabetes (diabetes during preg- nancy), created educational materials, provided nutrition education and counselling to increase patients’ knowledge in disease management especially on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) during her community training at Klinik Kesihatan Ampangan, Seremban. Finally, during her degree year at IMU, she conducted a Community Webinar: “Gout and Diet: Stop the Pain!” was a virtual health talk about better lifestyle and diet on managing gout disease and a nutrition promo- tion program to address specific nutrition issues based on the community.

She aspires to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and nutrition education and counselling to clients and the community. Being driven by the passion, she tries her best to empower the public with nutritional knowledge to help them make the right food and lifestyle choices daily to live a healthy life.
