INTRODUCTION

Ir. Shamila graduated from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) with a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering in 2000. She started her career with TriSystems Engineering Sdn Bhd in February 2001, as an Engineer. Ir. Shamila spent two (2) years in software programming for the fire and gas as well as shutdown systems for offshore and on-shore platforms. As an engineer tasked with software programming at TriSystems from February 2001 – March 2004, she was also instrumental in establishing Functional Design specifications, Software Design specifications, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures and participating in FATs for various projects. Ir. Shamila spent her third year at TriSystems preparing bid proposals for tendering projects.

She was selected to represent Malaysia at the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS) Forum, a 55-day leadership training program in Japan for young professionals from Asian countries. After she returned from IATSS Forum in 2004, Ir. Shamila joined Matsushita Toshiba Picture Display (M) Sdn Bhd as the Safety and Health Engineer, a position which she held from August 2004 – March 2007. Ir. Shamila was employed as a Safety and Health Engineer to assist the Safety and Health Officer in implementing safety and health policies for employees at MTPDM. Ir. Shamila completed her Safety and Health Officer Training and passed her examinations with NIOSH in October 2006. At the same time, she also pursued her Master of Business Administration from University of Strathclyde part time and graduated in November 2008. Subsequently in April 2007 Ir. Shamila joined Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) Sdn Bhd as a Quality Executive. SJMC was rebranded to Sime Darby Medical Centre Subang Jaya in October 2009. Beginning July 2014, following an alliance with Ramsay Healthcare, it is now known as Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare Sdn Bhd (RSDH). Ir. Shamila ascended from the ranks of an Engineer to resigning from her position as Manager of the Biomedical Engineering Department (BME) of RSD Hospitals – Subang Jaya Medical Centre. Currently, she is self-employed under her own company Armamentarium Consulting as a Freelance Healthcare Consultant, Trainer and Auditor. Ir. Shamila was also the local councilor for the subject Analytical Support for Decision Making for the University of Strathclyde, Master of Business Administration students that were undergoing their course externally under CDC Management Development for two years. After obtaining her Professional Engineer recognition from the Board of Engineers Malaysia, she is serving as the Committee Member for The Institution of Engineers Malaysia’s Electrical Engineering Technical Division and Chairperson for the Healthcare and Biomedical Engineering Working Group.
